CURRENCY EXCHANGE

US dollars are welcome in places frequented by tourists but you will most likely be offered a less than favourable rate.

Most hotels offer the same rate as banks but may charge an extra fee. Though there are currency exchange shops in the tourist areas, head to a bank to get an offical rate.

Don’t exchange too much at one time as you will get a less than favourable rate when selling back your Dong. Generally larger bills like 100 USD give a better rate than smaller notes like 10 USD or 5 USD

Local insight: make sure your foreign bank notes are clean and crisp with no tears or writing. they will not be accepted otherwise.
