Dalat promotes city's flower brand with upcoming festival

(visavietnam.net.vn) - Dalat City promises an exciting Flower Festival as the city awaits potentially 500,000 visitors.

It is estimated that about 40,000 visitors will stay in the city every night during the festival. City authorities have worked with 650 hotels and guest houses to ensure standards as well as providing a hotline for complaints. Hotline: (+84) 941.245.245.

City chairman Vo Ngoc Hiep said the event would promote Dalat’s flower-growers.

"Representatives from various companies and growers will be represented through our programmes," he said. "We have many activities this time and expect to receive about 500,000 visitors."

The main programmes of the festival include the flower spaces around Xuan Huong Lake, along Le Dai Hanh Street and Ong Dao Bridge. Famous flower villages such as Ha Dong, Thai Phien and Van Thanh will be sight-seeing destinations and introduce visitors all the stages of flower production.

Flower lovers can enjoy the Flower Carnival with art groups performing fashion shows or street arts with vegetables and flowers.

The festival will be held from December 30 until January next year.

Phan Van Da, vice chairman of Lam Dong Province said about 7,400 hectares were used to plant flowers Each year, over 3.2 billion flowers are produced around Dalat City for both domestic and foreign markets. Flowers from Dalat are becoming more popular in countries such as Japan, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia.
